So...

I am in Hawaii right now and it is absolutely beautiful. Certainly one of the most beautiful places i've been (though so far nothing tops Italy). But... one thing that has bothered me on this stay (actually the only thing) has been the naive people i've had to listen to. I'm not sure why, but they seem to have flocked here in great numbers to celebrate christmas/new years together.

Honestly. Why would people come here just just complain about how "Elvis is the King, not Michael Jackson" (seriously, this is the shit they are talking about). Or how when the world ends in 2012 only the American citizens will be accepted into survival pods because Canadians are dumb. That one made me laugh out loud right there and then.

Seriously.

But on another note. Hawaii is AMAZING! Every night i've fallen to sleep with the sound of the crashing surf because our lodge is right beside the ocean. From the balcony we can see two other islands (Molokai and Lanai). The moon sets right in between the two of them, casting it's creepy light across the ocean towards us. What a beautiful place. Plenty of cool things to look at, shop for, and experience.

I saw Cirque Polynesia a few night ago and it was spectacular. Certainly not on the same production level of Cirque de Soleil but such a marvelous spectacle none the less. I have not seen mens hips move in such ways (yet it was just as sexy as it was odd), and the women were some of the most fit women i've seen in person. As were the men of course. The entire time I was both slightly turned on by all those guys and absolutely amazed at te extraordinary things the cast were doing. If you go to Maui you must see this show!

Well I can't ramble on and on otherwise this post will get WAY to long. So I shall leave by saying that Hawaii is amazing! I love it here. Way better than cold Saskatchewan right now.

Aloha and mahalo!

P.S.: I'll post a picture of one of the amazing sunsets I have witnessed from our lodge when I get the pictures from my new cam.

Apparently the Harry Potter series is about to get a bit more mature so to speak. Fans of the series are a buzz about the latest rumor that Emma Watsons character Hermione Granger will have a good ol' nude scene during some kind of dream sequence that Harry has in the upcoming movie (though which of the two parts it will be in is unknown so far). But wait... that definitely wasn't in the book... or did I just accidentally miss a nude scene involving a character from one of the most beloved series of all time? Hmm...

Well as it turns out the director may be taking his artistic privileges to new levels. He has reportedly created scenes of more "mature" (whatever that means) for just the big screen and hacked away at some of Rowling's manuscript. Well we'll see how things go down.

But here's the question that should be asked. Is it right to sexify the character even though she's a part of such an iconic and child friendly series?

Fast Car- Namie Amuro

I recently layed eyes on a music video that I LOVE! It's Namie Amuro's Fast Car from her soon to be album Past < Future.

This is one hell of a music video, full of attractive japanese men/women, dancing, costumes, and the good vocals you would expect from Namie. She is, for those that don't know, a Japanese singer/songwriter (hence the Japanese men/women).

This unfortunately makes the song impossible for me to understand without the use of translated lyrics online seeing as I do not speak Japanese. But this does not in any way make it difficult to listen to. It's an interesting music video, and a good song none the less.

Amy Winehouse or Lady Gaga...?

Lady Gaga reminds me an awful lot like Amy Winehouse in this picture... It's scene from her Bad Romance music video.

3 or Bad Romance...

There is quite a bit of hub-bub about the release of 3 (Britney Spears) and Bad Romance (Lady Gaga) being released around the same time it would seem. The reason for this is because people seem to be taking sides, preferring 3 over Bad Romance or the other way around, despite the fact that it is completely unnecessary and not at all what either artist was trying to do. But whatever, it was probably going to happen either way. So I have decided to say which side i'm on (assuming I had to pick) and my reasons.

I am on... Lady Gaga's side.

I chose this side primarily because I have a deeper respect for Lady Gaga and her singing. I respect Britney as well, but for a different reason. 3 was the video I saw right before I watched Bad Romance and at first I enjoyed 3 more, but which video did I remember of the two? Bad Romance.

Both videos are made well, but personally I think Lady Gaga has done something truly great with hers. There is great use of costume and story telling, and it is quite original in it's execution. When have you ever seen half the things in this video anywhere else? This obviously is not the only reason why I chose Bad Romance because not every great video needs to be complicated and shiny (take Single Ladies for example), and i'll explain my other reasons in a moment.

One reason as I mentioned above is the story. I was somewhat surprised when I heard it had one, but I was when I heard Paparazzi had deeper meaning as well. The story for those that are wondering is this: Lady Gaga (possibly in the future) is being auctioned off at a Russian bath house by the Russian Mafia. She inevitably is bought by the highest bidder who happens to be the leader of said mafia (or it's speculated that he's the leader since he has a fancy golden chin thing). Lady Gaga sings a french line which translates roughly into "I want my love, I want my revenge." Thus leading into the climax of the video which ends in a blaze of glory quite literally. After all, who wants to hear "I just want to be friends" from a love interest?

3's story is far far far more simple. It's about having a threesome. Not much meat there if you ask me. Bad Romance is good because it's very open to interpretation, while 3 is quite one sided in it's meaning. 3 is also very predictable and slightly un-original. Where have I seen the things i've seen in 3 before? Work by Ciara, Buttons by the Pussycat Dolls, Womanizer by Britney Spears (because she typacly has a dance orgy in her video's), and many many more. Bad Romance has things that I have never seen before.

The first time I saw Bad Romance I was like "WTF!?"
The first time I saw 3 I was like "Ok, next video."
And which have I watched over and over again?

Bad Romance.

And Nicole WINS!

Well I must say that I am pleased with the decision of Tyra Banks and her fellow judges on ANTM. It's about time they got something right. Mind you they have made some good decisions, but not a lot of them.

Anyways. Nicole Fox is officially America's Next Top Model. And rightfully so. She had been a forerunner in the competition from day one, with the exceptions of a few fall backs she stayed at the top of the competition the whole way through. She's beautiful and strong, and slight awkward (but who really cares when you're looking at her in a magazine). I feel like I should say that they were saying "Shortest winner ever!" but not really. Eva Pigford, now Eva Marcille was in fact the shortest at 5'6.5", shorter than Nicole's 5'7. But who gives a damn. She's great!

I must say thought that I had doubts she would win for a second or two when it came down to those final moments. Laura seemed a deserving winner as well. Her walk was better (less clunky I thought) and she was certainly GORGEOUS! But she did have that whole dislexia thing which would prove a difficult obstacle to contend with in the industy, and her accent would probably put some people off, and lets be honest, she just wasn't really up to par with Nicole's ability to model (though she was a good model i'll give her that).

It was a pleasing season, though there seemed to be a little less drama than the last ones if I remember correctly. This could be because the ones that had the nack for stirring shit up got the boot early on (other than Erin who was just really annoying).
